Boating
Boating is a perfect activity to explore Lake George, “The Queen of American Lakes”. Our long and narrow lake is great for cruising and there are plenty of secluded bays to drop an anchor to swim and enjoy the crystal clear water. Lake George is the ideal spot for water sports and provides fun for a whole vacation.

Snug Harbor Marina
Snug Harbor has two locations on Lake George, one in Ticonderoga (Snug Harbor Marina) and one in Silver Bay (Snug Harbor South). Both locations can rent and service boats, and fill up on gas, equipment, and snacks.

Lake George Steamboat Company
Mohican Full Lake Cruise: The only complete tour of Lake George, starting and ending on the southern end of Lake George (Lake George Village), and is. Cruise between the Adirondack Mountains, tree-covered islands, and the unspoiled beauty of Lake George. The Fall Foliage Tours are not to be missed. Eco-Tourism
LGA’s Floating Classroom
The Lake George Association promotes the protection of Lake George through ecotourism education on the ‘Floating Classroom’. This two-hour tour runs all summer and is a great activity for every age. Learn how to measure water clarity, catch zooplankton, measure water pH levels, and the water temperature, and about how Lake George was formed thousands of years ago. Boating Safety/Laws
There are laws and safety regulations for boating, renting, and launching boats on Lake George and within New York. To protect the natural beauty and ecosystem of Lake George from invasive species, you must have your boat inspected before you launch, it should be cleaned, drained, and dried.

Three Perfect Days: Water Activities
The northern end of Lake George is the perfect place to go sailing. With fewer motorized boats, it’s a great place for beginners and enthusiasts.
Day 1: Boating + Water Sports
- Launch a boat at the Roger’s Rock Campground and take in the beauty of Lake George.
- Drive by the famous Roger’s Slide and anchor in Cook’s Bay to swim in the crystal clear waters.
- Bring some sandwiches from Libby’s Bakery Cafe and snacks from the Ticonderoga Natural Foods Coop for a picnic lunch.
- Enjoy water skiing, wakeboarding, tubing, and more!
Day 2: Gone Fishing
- Launch a boat at Mossy Point or rent from Snug Harbor Marina or Dockside Landing Marina and spend the whole day fishing on the lake, is there a better way to spend a summer day?
- Get lunch at Burleigh’s or Bodette’s beforehand and enjoy it out on the water!
Day 3: Canoe or Kayak Island Adventure
- Launch a kayak or canoe at the Hague Town Public Beach and enjoy a paddle between the Waltonian Islands.
- Pick up lunch in Hague beforehand at The Hague Market and enjoy an island picnic on Asas Picnic Island.
